Jacques Bédard, President
The man who founded Jacques Bédard Excavation Ltd. started his career in excavation at 16 years old as a backhoe operator. He bought his first backhoe in 1969 at the age of 21 and spent a lifetime working hard to build what is now one of the most reputable excavation companies in the Ottawa region. Even though Jacques leaves the day-to-day operations to his devoted staff, he is still very much involved in the vision and direction of the company for the future.
Céline Bédard, Director General
Céline, Jacques Bédard’s oldest daughter, started working for the family business in 1991 doing anything from accounting to delivering material on construction sites. She left the company in 1996 to study at the University of Ottawa and earned her degree in Social Sciences with a major in Criminology. During those years, she gained valuable experience working for various companies. She returned to the family business in 2002, this time working as a Health & Safety Manager where she continued to gain knowledge of the company and the industry. She became Director General in 2008.
Claude Cadieux, Site
Claude, Laurier’ son, joined the company at the age of 16 and started working as a as labourer. He learned the trade and worked as a grademan, then became an operator, first on a backhoe and later on, an excavator. His experience and dedication to Jacques Bédard Excavation Ltd. made him an excellent choice for a supervisory position, which he has occupied for many years.
Sébastien Pilon, Site Superintendent
Sébastien was hired in 2017 as a gradeperson. Demonstrating great aptitudes for the trade paired with an eagerness to learn, Sebastien was offered a role as an equipment operator. He spent a few years learning on different sizes of equipment and gained valuable experience. His leadership skills were noticed by management and he was again offered a new role: site foreman. He continued to acquire experience of the activities of the company and learned to manage personnel. Since Spring 2023, Sebastien has moved into the role of Site Superintendent of Jacques Bedard Excavation Ltd., overseeing all the site operations.
Steve Bégin, Shop Supervisor
Steve joined the team of Jacques Bédard Excavation Ltd. in 2019 in a supporting role for the shop, delivering material and small equipment and tools to crews on sites, repairing equipment and doing oil changes. Steve's versatile skills are a great asset to the company and moving him into a lead role for the shop came naturally as Steve understands the crucial role of the shop, always working hand in hand with site operations.
Louis Prézeau, Site Foreman
Louis applied and was hired as a bulldozer operator in May 1997. He had many years of valuable experience and made a great addition to the Bédard team. His commitment to the company and his extensive knowledge of our line of work earned him the respect of our clients, his-coworkers and management who offered him the position of Site Foreman which he has been occupying for the past few years.

Louis Prézeau, Site Foreman
Louis applied and was hired as a bulldozer operator in May 1997. He had many years of valuable experience and made a great addition to the Bédard team. His commitment to the company and his extensive knowledge of our line of work earned him the respect of our clients, his coworkers and management who eventually offered him the position of Site Foreman. Louis is a great team player, always ready to help, when needed.
Alexandre Lair, Site Foreman
Alex came to us in January 2018 with 5 years of experience as an excavator, backhoe and Bobcat operator. He was originally hired to operate a Bobcat but it quickly became apparent that he had leadership skills and that he would be a valuable asset in a supervisory role, which he now occupies.

Some have been with us for as long as 30 years ! Steve Argue, Site Foreman
Steve joined our team in the Spring of 1999 as a general labour. He gained experience and became a gradeperson. He later on learned the trade of backhoe operator, a position in which he shined for many years. When the time came for the company to appoint a new site foreman, Steve was an obvious choice. His dedication, his numerous years of experience and his excellent work ethic are all great values for the company and we are proud that Steve is part of our team of foremen.
Alexandre Lair, Site Foreman

Daniel Boulanger, Site Foreman
Dan is the latest addition to the foremen's team, joining us in 2022. He came with several years of experience in residential construction, many of them managing people. His hard-working attitude, commitment to the company and leadership skills quickly made him a valuable member of our team.
