Jacques Bédard, President
The man who founded Jacques Bédard Excavation Ltd. started his career in excavation at 16 years old as a backhoe operator. He bought his first backhoe in 1969 at the age of 21 and spent a lifetime working hard to build what is now one of the most reputable excavation companies in the Ottawa region. Even though Jacques leaves the day-to-day operations to his devoted staff, he is still very much involved in the vision and direction of the company for the future.
Céline Bédard, Director General
Céline, Jacques Bédard’s oldest daughter, started working for the family business in 1991 doing anything from accounting to delivering material on construction sites. She left the company in 1996 to study at the University of Ottawa and earned her degree in Social Sciences with a major in Criminology. During those years, she gained valuable experience working for various companies. She returned to the family business in 2002, this time working as a Health & Safety Manager where she continued to gain knowledge of the company and the industry. She became Director General in 2008.
Laurier Cadieux, Vice-President of Operations
Laurier was hired in February 1979 as an equipment operator. Moving up from backhoe to excavator operator to site foreman all the way to Vice-President of Operations, Laurier has over 35 years of experience in the excavation industry. He works in estimating as well as overseeing the site operations and the shop. Laurier’s expertise and name are well-known and respected throughout the City of Ottawa and he is a valuable member of the Bédard team.
Claude Cadieux, Site Foreman
Claude, Laurier’ son, joined the company at the age of 16 and started working as a as labourer. He learned the trade and worked as a grademan, then became an operator, first on a backhoe and later on, an excavator. His experience and dedication to Jacques Bédard Excavation Ltd. made him an excellent choice for a supervisory position, which he has occupied for many years.
Louis Prézeau, Site Foreman
Louis applied and was hired as a bulldozer operator in May 1997. He had many years of valuable experience and made a great addition to the Bédard team. His commitment to the company and his extensive knowledge of our line of work earned him the respect of our clients, his-coworkers and management who offered him the position of Site Foreman which he has been occupying for the past few years.
Steve Argue, Site Foreman
Steve joined our team in the Spring of 1999 as labourer. He gained experience and became grademan. Finally, he learned the trade of backhoe operator, a position in which he shined for many years. When the time came for the company to appoint a new site foreman, Steve was an obvious choice. His dedication, his numerous years of experience and his excellent work ethic are all great values for the company and we are proud that Steve is part of our team of foremen.
Gaetan Legault, Site Foreman
Gaetan joined our team as a site foreman at the beginning of 2018, bringing along with him 7 1/2 years of construction experience as an operator on various pieces of equipment. His knowledge of the industry and enthusiasm to take on a supervisory role have made him a great addition to the JBE team.
Alexandre Lair, Site Foreman
Alex came to us in January 2018 with 5 years of experience as an excavator, backhoe and Bobcat operator. He was originally hired to operate a Bobcat but it quickly became apparent that he had leadership skills and that he would be a valuable asset in a supervisory role, which he now occupies.
Our company also includes a team of hard-working men and women out in the field and at the office. They interact with our clients and suppliers and represent us well while getting the job done. Some have been with us for as long as 30 years ! Their loyalty and dedication to Jacques Bédard Excavation Ltd. are of great value to our company and have contributed to our success throughout the years.
